Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell is actually a series of stealth video games. Some of you may not know that it refers to a game that was firstly released in 2002. Due to its popularity, the games are transformed into a series of novels until they are finally set in a film adaptation. The film will be released in 2017 and now it is being produced. If you are the game players or the novel readers, you may be familiar with some of these characters in Splinter Cell. There are three main characters in this game that were created by J. T. Petty. It is well known as the organization of “Third Echelon”. Sam Fisher is the main character in this game. He is protagonist. Irving Lambert is the leader of the organization, Third Echelon. He leads Fisher through some missions in the games. Unfortunately, he is killed by Sam. Anna “Grim” Grimsdottir is the official Third Echelon analyst and hacker. She helps Fisher to overcome some technical obstacles. In Conviction, she also takes the role of Lambert. The dramatic story of the games is set in her character. However, there is no clear information about the characters that will be included in the Splinter Cell film adaptation. The cast is not complete enough. The main character, Sam Fisher is played by Tom Hardy, a famous actor that is known for Inception (2010), followed by The Dark Knight Rises (2012), and the most recent is Mad Max: Fury Road (2015) and The Revenant (2015). He is also a producer and writer and in this Splinter Cell, he is directed by Doug Liman, an American director that is known for The Bourne Identity (2002), The Bourne Supremacy (2004), The Bourne Ultimatum (2007), and Edge of Tomorrow (2014).
In addition to the cast and director, Erin Singer is the screenwriter of this film. Uniquely, this film adaptation will be the first credit for this screenwriter because Singer used to work as producer. She produced TV Series, The Will. In the production team, there are Jean-Julien Baronnet, Basil Iwanyk and Didier Lupfer. The production companies of this Splinter Cell film are New Regency Enterprises and Ubisoft Motion Pictures. The distribution rights are held by 20th Century Fox.
The film adaptation that is also known as Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell was confirmed by both the inclusion of teaser trailer and news sources. They show that the film is in the pre-production stage. The Platinum Hits Edition, the European Edition of the Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory and Collectors Edition teaser trailer are those that confirmed about the film adaptation. At first, the director of Friday Night Lights (2004), Peter Berg was noted to produce or direct the film that is written by J.T. Petty. However, they passed this project in 2005 as well as the shift from the Paramount Pictures to DreamWorks.
Then, it was announced that Tom Hardy will play the main character in this Splinter Cell film. This actor that is popular for The Dark Knight Rises as Bane was announced in 2012 to play Sam Fisher.
